Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 2 November 2026
1. About us
These terms apply to all bookings with AfterHoursCouriers Service Pty Ltd (ABN 54 692 484 058) (“AfterHoursCouriers”, “we”, “us”). By making a booking, you agree to these terms.
2. Our service
We collect and deliver goods within Melbourne Metro. Collections can be made during business hours or after hours. Deliveries are made after hours, on weeknight evenings and weekends, within the times available when you book. Jobs outside Melbourne Metro, or unusually large loads, may need a manual quote.
3. Quotes and pricing
We calculate every quote specifically for your job based on the following factors:
-
Load size and weight:
-
Courier
-
Half Tray
-
Full Tray
-
-
Distance and travel time for your route
-
Delivery speed: faster options cost more
-
Fuel levy: a per-kilometre charge, regularly adjusted based on current diesel prices
-
Tolls (if applicable): charged at the light commercial vehicle (LCV) rate plus a 20% administration fee
-
Additional services (if selected):
-
Proof of delivery
-
Dangerous goods handling
-
All prices include GST, and each charge is itemised on your invoice. Your quote will be provided before you confirm your booking.
Please make sure your booking details are accurate. If the goods are larger or heavier than described, or if extra waiting time or stops are needed, additional charges may apply at our standard rates.
4. Additional Charges
Some costs can only be known once a job is under way. Where one of the charges below applies, it is billed on a separate invoice after the job, in addition to the booking price. All amounts below are exclusive of GST; GST is added on the invoice.
Waiting time
Each job includes free waiting time, combined across collection and delivery:
-
Courier: 5 minutes
-
Half Tray: 10 minutes
-
Full Tray: 15 minutes
Waiting time beyond this is charged at $1.00 per whole minute. Waiting time is measured from our driver app records: the time the driver arrives at each location to the time the collection or proof of delivery is completed.
Redirection
If you ask us to change the delivery address after the job has been booked, the extra travel is charged at $1.00 per extra minute plus the current fuel levy per extra kilometre.
Incorrect service selected
If the goods are larger or heavier than the service booked, we may carry them on the correct service and charge the difference between the two.
Storage
If we have to hold goods overnight because a delivery or return could not be completed for a reason outside our control (for example, nobody available to receive the goods, access not possible, or the goods refused), or at your request, storage is charged per night:
-
Courier: $15
-
Half Tray: $35
-
Full Tray: $70
Goods collected during business hours and delivered the same evening as part of our normal service are not charged storage.
Additional stops or legs
An extra delivery address, return trip or additional leg is not added to an existing job. It is booked and charged as a new job.
How additional charges are invoiced
Additional charges are invoiced separately and emailed to the email address used for the booking. The invoice reference is your booking reference followed by -2 (then -3 and so on for any further invoices on the same job). The invoice is payable on receipt, or on your account terms if you have a credit account with us. If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact admin@afterhourscouriers.com.au.
5. Payment
-
After you book, we’ll send you an invoice via email.
-
You can pay the invoice online using a credit or debit card.
-
Once we receive your payment, we’ll schedule your job into a driver’s run.
-
If your booking remains unpaid, it will be automatically cancelled at the scheduled collection time.
-
Approved account customers are invoiced according to their agreed payment terms.
Overdue invoices
We can’t accept a new booking while you have an overdue invoice with us. Once the overdue invoice is paid, you can book as normal. If you think this has been applied in error, please contact admin@afterhourscouriers.com.au.
6. Business-hours collection
If you choose business-hours collection, we’ll collect your goods during the day and deliver them after hours, within the delivery window shown when you book. Your goods will stay in our vehicle, in transit, until delivery.
7. Your responsibilities
You must:
-
Provide accurate collection and delivery details and contact numbers
-
Ensure the goods are ready, suitably packed, and available at the collection time
-
Ensure someone is available to receive the delivery or provide clear instructions
-

8. Items we don’t carry
We do not carry:
-
Illegal goods
-
Firearms or weapons
-
Cash or valuables (e.g., jewellery, bullion)
-
Live animals
-

We may refuse or stop any job we reasonably believe is unsafe or unlawful.
9. Cancellations
Before payment:
-
You can cancel your booking free of charge.
After payment:

-
Half Tray: $16.50 (incl. GST)
-

-
-

-
The remaining balance will be refunded to your original payment method.
-
Please allow up to 10 business days for the refund to appear in your account.
Account customers:

Your original invoice will be credited, and the cancellation fee will be invoiced according to your account terms.
After collection:
-
Your job cannot be cancelled once our driver has collected the goods.
-
If you need the goods returned, a new job will be created and charged at our standard rates.
-
The return job will be scheduled for the next available business day.
10. Delivery, refused or undeliverable goods
We deliver to a person at the delivery address. If you are booking for someone else, you must give us the recipient’s correct name and a contact phone number, and make sure they know the delivery is coming and will be available to receive it.
We do not leave goods unattended. If you want goods left at the address without a signature, you must say so in the special instructions when booking, and the goods are then left at your risk.
If a delivery is refused, or cannot be completed because no one is available or the details provided are incorrect, we will hold the goods securely and contact you to arrange redelivery or return to the collection address. Redelivery or return is charged as a separate job at our standard rates and will be scheduled in the following business day’s runs.
11. Tracking and proof of delivery
We provide a tracking link when your delivery is on its way. We record proof of collection and delivery on every job for our records. If you select proof of delivery when booking, we will send it to you once your delivery is complete.
12. Loss or damage
Our services come with guarantees that can’t be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If your goods are lost or damaged while in our care, contact us as soon as possible, and within 7 days of delivery or the scheduled delivery date, so we can investigate. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the lower of the value of the goods or $75,000 per job. We’re not liable for loss or damage caused by inadequate packing, inaccurate booking details, goods we don’t carry (section 8), or indirect or consequential loss.
13. Privacy
We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website when you book applies to that booking.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
